So im installing the drive, and i have a few newbie questions. One thing is, do i have to connect all three cables, the floppy power cable, the USB connection cable, and the IDE floppy cable? Or do i choose between two, the power and USB cable, or the power and the IDE floppy cable. The second question is, while the floppy works fine, it reads fine. But when i insert a SD card in there, XP doesn't show anything that says it sees a SD card in there.

So could i have installed it incorrectly? Should i uninstall the drivers, restart the computer and reinstall them? Well, i got the Card reader working fine now, but then the error 'There Is No Disk in the Drive. Please Insert a Disk into Drive' came up every time i tried to do something.

So a little searching on the microsoft website and i found the way to fix it. I never knew microsoft website was so helpful. I found a lot of stuff i had problems with on there. For future reference, what was the fix? And yes, Microsoft's KB is a vast pool of information.

For all the flak that Microsoft got, they are really not that bad. Also mitsumi drivers have got to be the biggest pile of crap drivers i have ever come across. They need to update their website too.Do you even need to install the drivers? To be honest, i dont know really.

I decided to play around with the wiring of the USB cable. I plugged it in another port in the motherboard.

Turned on my computer, and it wasn't turning on, so i thought this wasn't good. I remembered that i read on newegg reviews that one guy had a problem when ever he would plug the usb cable in his computer, the computer wouldn't turn on. So i just put the cable back in the same exact place.

And this time windows decided to recognize the drive and it worked. To fix the 'no disk in drive thing,' i just had to rename the removable drive to another letter other than C. Because i dont have a C drive, my main hard drive is F, with a storage drive at E. So one of the removable disks would install as C. And you really don't the drivers either.

They work fine with out them. I know this is an old thread, but I think all threads should remain forever. There are millions of people still using DOS and Win95, and Win98. If one person still seeks a solution, then the thread has value.

I have this drive. It was a pull from a no-longer-needed box that someone gave to me. Nothing else was salvageable.

I didn't have a card reader so I pulled it and chucked into my box. Worked first time. Plugged in the cables, and it went fine. Still no probs. Floppy control has always been taken over by the Operating System - MSDOS, DRDOS, Windows. No third party drivers have ever been needed to be installed. And this is no different.

So, it doesn't need drivers. Having said that, I have only used the Floppy and the SD slots, but both work fine. Further, another drive shows up in Device Manager, which I haven't used. Obviously, if I haven't put a card in the other drive(s), then it's going to object and ask me to do so, which it does. This isn't an error, just the system, reasonably, objecting to you pointing at a drive that contains nothing, fool. What I've been searching for is, hopefully, a Firmware update that will allow it to read SDHC. It uses SD fine, but it won't use SDHC.

It doesn't need drivers to function, unless those drivers enable use of later technology. I don't know, but I think that using HDSC would require a Firmware update, rather than just an existing driver. I am reluctant to load any of the drivers offered, simply cos I trust few sites nowadays - I only deal with about five. None of those can help, but, no, my trusting days are over.

I'll find a use for the spare SDHC. So, if you know of a site that offers a genuine Firmware update, I will caress your name, and only your name, within my dreams, should you pass the details to me. I can show you my Device Manager entries, (if you'll show me yours - go on it was there just waiting),if you can tell me how I upload a jpg.
