I am using Microsoft Excel for Mac, version 15.18, and would like to not have backstage open when I am opening and saving files. I have looked up how to do this (file options 'don't show the backstage'.), and while I understand the steps, the huge issue is that there is no 'Options' tab when I click on the 'File' tab. I have attached two images to show what I am looking at versus what every other tutorial seems to display. My business partner has Excel 2013 for her PC, and the options tab is clear as day. What the heck am I missing here? There is no File tab on the Ribbon in Mac Excel 2016. As Mike wrote, Options is the Windows equivalent of Preferences on a Mac. But there is no preference for that purpose.

Pursuant to Mike's reply, there currently is no way to avoid the 'backstage' in Mac Excel 2016. Each time you launch the program it defaults to the OneDrive location, so you have to click the On My Mac button. Unfortunately, that doesn't 'stick' so you have to do the same each time you open a file.
